Gentlemen (that includes you to Peter)

Thank you for the kind comments.

I am modeling the kit at 80% of the original size that works out to about 1/18.75 Yes I should make it 1/18 but I wanted the model to be as big as possible. Size does make a difference.

First yes once I have permission from Alan Rose and others who were involved with the kit I will make the add-on available on this forum. Yes I have work ups for more detail but I think the add-on should be inline with the models skill level. As it is getting the wind screen in place is a bit tricky,

Bernoullis I have been giving your suggestion on the deck being black some thought and I think I will change it to a scale black

As for round knobs start with a wire with a loop on one end dip it in white glue and let it dry after several dips you will have a round knob ready to paint.

Great add-on.

The DC-3 is going to end up a stunning kit.

Jim, I have sent you a detailed PM covering this, and more, but I will say here that since Alan's model represents a civilian DC-3 then you can probably be a little less strict about the overall cockpit colours.

Many variations of colour and instrumentation have appeared in the still-airworthy Gooney Birds out there, so just run with something that nicely represents an early version. It was the military variants that tended to have black panels and cockpits .... because that is what Douglas supplied!

As an aside, I understand you West Coast folk have been having a really warm time of it lately? How is it in Glendora? It has been a few months since I flew over your way - we usually stay in Long Beach on the layover. I did once visit Ontario airport, not far from you, just before I left the military.

David,

The reason I started this project is to get away from the Sherman... But the track links are done along with the engine compartment and most of the interior.

I look at the Sherman and think that if there is a purgatory for paper modelers you would have to build the Halinski Sherman and T34 over and over again.

Good News!

Alan Rose has given me permission to use parts of his original model for the Cockpit add-on. As with the DC-3 model the cockpit will be available only on this forum as a free model. I am presently working on finishing up the part pages and eliminating small errors and doing the final build of the cockpit. I should be done in a couple of weeks as there is a Halinski Helldiver whispering my name and asking to be assembled.

I will not be doing a printed instructions but I will do a step by step build thread showing how it is to be assembled.

Bravo, Jim!

I look forward to seeing your DC-3 cockpit during the August IPMS/Orange County meeting. Will you be entering this in OrangeCon?
