Boeing 747 Dreamlifter
It's been a long time since I designed a model, but I think it's time to dust off the old design board and do some creating. I'm going to convert my previous 747 design into the Dreamlifter. Four of these flying whales where created to fly components of the Boeing Dreamlifter to their assembly plants.

That'll be cool! There are models of the Guppy family and the Airbus Beluga. This makes perfect sense.

At 40+ years old, I think that the design can be excused for getting a little thick around the middle...
A very interesting take on a very common aircraft - looking forward to your design developing...

Are the templates of this 747 (not Dreamlifter) available to purchase anywhere?

I was wondering the same thing, I really like the 747 Atlas Air design.

The Atlas Air models were a repaint of the Schreiber Bogen Boeing 747-230 B. Its a good model, but the texture was showing it's pre-computer age. Amazon has it for sale at Amazon.com: Schreiber-Bogen Boeing 747 "Jumbo Jet" Card Model: Toys & Games
but the price has gone up considerably since I bought it. I think I paid $20 with shipping. Creative Park (Canon?) has a very nice and free British Airways one, and Paper Trade has one in KLM colors. I made up the Atlas Air ones to send them my resume, but never got "the call". |

Today was spent finding the old files, updating InkScape and Sketchup on the computer, as well as installing the unfold and conversion plugins. I printed out the fuselage sheets and ate a box of cereal to get the reinforcing bulkhead cardboard.
I'm going to make up a new Atlas Air version to give to a pilot friend who just got hired by Atlas. I add textures that I get from photos off of Airliners.net, a web site well worth exploring. I use Paint.Net to get the textures onto the basic outline of the parts. I will use the wings and engines from the Schreiber Bogen repaint, but will design a new fuselage using sketchup. The parts sheets are sprayed with clear acrylic sealer before cutting out the parts. That makes it easy to remove any fingerprints caused by the tacky glue. |

There is also a Boeing VC-25 Air Force One Free Paper Model. I can't insert the URL here, but to find it google "Boeing VC-25 Air Force One Paper Model" and the link should be the first result of the search
