I have heard some doubt this story do to Stigler being a member of a fighter unit in North Africa that was padding their kill claims. Who knows for sure unless one was actually there. Has any of Brown's crew ever commented on the story?
Below are links to the Wikipedia (granted, not the most reliable source) page on the event and what Snopes had to say about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Brown_and_Franz_Stigler_incident http://www.snopes.com/military/charliebrown.asp

The Japanese wartime film of the B-17 shootdown made use of in-flight film of one of the B-17s captured on Java, in-flight scenes of Ki-43s, some airbrushing, and perhaps some model work. It was not actual combat footage.
There was considerable discussion of this film in the J-Aircraft forum a couple of years ago, but I can't find it just now. Don Don |

Some bomb bay parts details
I've been doing a test build of John's B-17G and I am amazed at the details that he is including with these kits.
I am going blind slowly but surely with the fine details and fine cutting. I'm posting a some picts showing some of the detail in the bomb bays. These are just a few of the pieces, there are many more where these come from. These are parts of the walkway that crosses through the bomb bay compartment. Click to enlarge This is not out of focus, it's shadows being cast onto the table from the piece, Click to enlarge , Bomb racks, shackles, inside of bomb bay doors. thanks, Swampfox |

Those extra details sure will make for a nice model when finished.
John, it looks like your getting the nose on the F model into shape nicely. |

Absolutely stunnung!
Whenever I first build a white prototype of a new design that I'm working on, it always amazes me how beautilful it is and can't imagine it getting any better. Then after adding color and building it, the model truly comes to life. This B-17F will surely be amazing! Thanks for sharing. Best Regards,

I agree with with the "white prototype" comment, in some aircraft I think it looks better than a coloured version, clean almost art like.
This B-17 looks fantastic. |
