Mantraro, the RC B-17 is looking fantastic! The level of craftsmanship is excellent, especially on the wing fairings. It is also interesting to see where some of the wiring is going. Will the tail wheel retract along with the main wheels? I too look forward to seeing it in flight.

Someone mentioned the “Heavy Metal” B-17 earlier in this thread. Right now I have two movie B-17s on the to do list, the B-17B Mary Ann from “Air Force” and the B-17G turned F Piccadilly Lilly from “Twelve O’clock High”. Both of which were on Turner Classic Movies this past Saturday as part of their Memorial Day marathon. If one were to do the B-17F portrayed in “Heavy Metal”, I think it would be neat to do it in the same cartoon style.

Here is a digital version of the Pacific Pearl, as a flight sim add in
War Thunder Communities Center

there is a youtube clip of the entire flight, and subsequent bailout.

on of the forums there is mention of a B-17 that appeared in an episode of South Park, I will try to explore further

Rick

Update: found the reference to the B-17 in South Park, called the Jewish Princess
http://southpark.wikia.com/wiki/The_Jewish_Princess
and it looks like it is paying homage to the Pacific Pearl from Heavy Metal

I see South Park also made it a B-17G, that is pretty funny.

I think one mod/kitbash is on my horizon

the Hot Wheels Fast Fortress

Here is the description from the Hot Wheels Wiki

Quote:
With six wheels, it deserves the name of Fast Fortress.

The Fast Fortress is a unique vehicle modeled after the infamous U.S. B-17 bombers of World War II. The engines have been repositioned closer to the body and the wings are shortened, as was the body. The engines, which on the original airplane had propellers, have had the blades removed for this model. Another interesting detail is the obligatory painting of a lady just below the canopy, something that was found on real B-17's. This one is nicknamed "Naughty Lady".
