If I get around to doing “Gremlin Gus II” I’ll certainly do both versions. I’d have to do all the art for the original anyway so it makes sense to release it too. The fifth engine test beds are on my list. My plan has been to get all the major variants done first so I have a good set of templates to work from. So far I have the B-17C, E, F (though there are a couple more F sub-variants I have to do) and the G (once again I have some sub variants, such as those with the Cheyenne tail turret). So of the major versions I still have to do are the Y1B-17, B-17B and B-17D (the D is easy, just add cowl flaps). From there I can move on to the YB-40, PB1-W, XB-38 etc.

Something to look forward to John...all those B-17 variations. Then afterwards, all the various nose arts available so we can build our full squadrons. LOL!

Yeah, full-strength bomber squadrons. Anyone for a fully equipped 14th AF or 8th AF? I can hardly wait. How about you Robert?

Bought Tinker Toy to support the program, although at the rate at which I build, I have to stick to Pacific B-17s for actual building (of course, "actual" building so far includes only 40-2074, but hope springs eternal).

Thanks Don! I figured you would want to build "Old 666/Lucy".

Yes, I do have plans for some NMF shark fin B-17s. Right now I’m finishing up the B-17G “Flak Eater” and will have the files to Ecardmodels next week. The next few kits will be another B-17G, the famous B-17E Old 666/Lucy and most likely a NMF B-17B or a Y1B-17, most likely a B-17B. And that Artic B-17B is also on my to-do list.

I sent in the files for my latest kit to Ecardmodels last week, the B-17G “Flak Eater”. Hopefully it will be available soon.
Now on to B-17G “A Bit O’ Lace” and B-17E “Lucy/Old 666”. “A Bit O’ Lace” has to be one of the most modeled B-17s in any medium. I’ve been watching Kurt’s progress on his build of the GPM kit of this B-17 with some interest. I imagine part of the popularity of this B-17G has to be the abundance of good reference material. How often do you see overall photos of both sides of an aircraft and in color to boot! This B-17 will be an interesting exercise in weathering techniques. As we have discussed, “Lucy/Old 666” is on the other end of the reference spectrum. But with a combination of the photos that do exist, studying other B-17Es from the same time, place and mission as well as some brain storming with a writer on the subject, I think I can get something reasonably accurate. Also, since this was a photo recon B-17, I plan to do some bomb bay fuel tanks to include instead of bombs. I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving!
