124585 would certainly be a colourful one. On the other hand, a mono-colour with no details like the one on the stand in the picture would be my speed of recolour .

Yes, it is 41-24585, otherwise known as “Wulfe Hound”. This kit will come with parts to build both the U.S. and German versions. The German version will be colorful with the yellow undersurfaces.

I also got my vendor status approved Ecardmodels so I’ll be getting kits available again soon.

John, I've read about them being captured and in reading the book A Higher Call, some of
the German AAA crews thought that Franz Stigler was escorting one of these captured B-17's.

So how many were actually captured whole by the Germans?

Although from the description in the book, "Ye Olde Pub" was quite a mess.
Which should have been noticeable from the ground by the AAA crews.

Jeff

Hi all, I sent the files for the VB-17G to Ecardmodels last week. I'm now waiting to hear if the files and everything are alright. I'm sure they are pretty busy at Ecardmodels. Once the first kit goes though I'll start uploading some of the older kits. I've started to go back and make some up grades or clean up some errors from the older kits. Thanks and take care.

John,

Send the file for the VB-17G to me if you still have my email address...or Bart, Ray or Dave. Chris has been very busy lately and doesn't check his emails all too much.

Or conversely, you can give it a go and list your own kits when you get the time. Bart, Ray, Dave or I will publish them.

I did publish/upload the files to the website. The status is listed as "Pending Review". Unless I did something wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

B-17 Books and Articles

John (and everybody) –

Air Power History has published an interesting historical article on B-17s in the low-level ground attack role in the Southwest Pacific in World War II: David L. Richards, “Fortress on the Deck: The B-17 as a Low-Level Anti-Shipping Bomber in the Southwest Pacific,” Air Power History, Volume 67, Number 2 (Summer 2020): 43-47.

In last month’s issue (67/1 [Spring 2020]), Frank Willingham reviewed Robert M. Stitt, Boeing B–17 Fortress in RAF Coastal Command Service. Perhaps you have read this book?
