Yes, it will be a retrofuturistic space opera set in the alternative 80's. Though it'll have to wait, I'm writing something else now.

A for the pic - yes, I will probably have a starry background. The ones posted I took past midnight and just didn't feel like playing with them too much :D

Another one may follow tonight, I'm just checking the last instructions and will see if the modded TKS-derived module can pass as Cosmos derivate for "Europe".

December 1985 has come. The TKS-derived laboratory module "Baikal" has automatically docked the ISS "Europe". Next month we expect the station completion with the arrival of "Panonia".

Nice visualization!

Have you ever considered to put some kind of film on solar panels to make them gloss?

No... But, damn, that sounds like a great idea. Is there anything easily available (not special materials) that you could suggest? I got mirror tape, but it's very thick, too thick, any other guess?

I would cut small squares out of blue gloss sticker, but it also might be a bit to thick and small.
The best way it would be (I guess) to put those panels into laminating machine, to cover with film. However it is hard to find one.

Still it looks good as it is

Funny thing is my wife has a laminating machine at work. But it would be difficult to make once they're attached permanently to the hulls...

See if some plastic food wrap will work. That stuff is usually clingy to the point of frustration and is very thin. Maybe a light coat from a glue stick to make it stick permanently. Check it on something else first before commiting to the model. A coat of gloss varnish might work too. There are water and solvent based varnishes available.

The model and alternate history line is very interesting.

Sounds like an idea, I'll have to did into it. I also decided to slightly redesign the "Baikal" module (but just addind two hull panels) and I want to start "Panonia" today, so that the thing will be over by tomorrow.

Then I'll corrct the files if anyone wanted to make their own. I'll also translate the technical description of "Europe" for those interested in the story.
