1/16 CBU-52/58 Combined Effect Munition

Hello Gentlemen

I just figured out how to design papermodels using Sketchup 15 and Inkscape yesterday, so i think i might give it a try with a rather simple model first

I have tried to design a papermodel digitally before, using Sketchup 8 and Pepakura designer 3, but PD3 was rather unpredictable in making cut lines so i gave up on this method

So, rather than using dedicated program to unfold the 3D, i figured out that using extensions for Sketchup is much easier. I use two extensions to design papermodels on sketchup, the first is called 'Flatten faces' and used to unfold 3d Models, the other one is an SVG exporter,

I'll explain this two at more detail later, for now lets start with the 3D model

The unfold process is finishished, and all unfolded part are laid on a rectangular face, ready to export as SVG. What i like about this method is i can do all the designing and unfolding process and do any necessary correction without leaving Sketchup, it really saves time

Compound curve as the hemispherical nose had to be divided into several parts first though, the flatten extension tends to be buggy when processing compound curves

Very cool! Are you doing this as an exorcise, or are you doing different ordinance?

If you take requests, an M107 155mm projectile would be so very cool in 1:16 (I would rescale to 1:18). :D

Looks fairly easy, i might give it a shot (can't resist the pun)
The exported files are in attachment, both PNG and zipped SVG
I'm still working on the texture so stay tuned

Cool! Is an SVG a Sketchup file?

SVG: scalable vector graphic
It's the exported image from sketchup
The SVG file can be coloured then converted into PDF
The SVG file can also exported as bitmap image, resulting in JPG image above

Thank you for the info! I am used to working with DXF. I haven't ventured into graphics too much.
