I worked on Sea Kings and was involved with the restoration of the fleet for the Navy. We overhauled about 70 Helicopters and fitted them with the 5 blade elastomeric hub, new motors. The craft were stripped down the bulkheads and all skins were removed (considering they were chemically bonded it was quite a job). I do know that the remaining Sea Kings in the Navy (US) have had their lifetime extended substantially. I believe Canada will be very happy when they get their S-92 Sikorsky Helos.

We lost a Seaking recently because the engines were replaced with ones that were beyond substantial... unfortunately the electrical system was'nt.

Just a case of a used vehicle way past warranty. Still ... with all the new tech out there ... the Seaking is still aptly named despite it's age. |
