Soviet space stations by godai
So, once done with the Salyut / Almaz series I decided to explore more of that line of the OPS / DOS stations.
So I came up with two models: one is the Almaz Phase 2 / OPS-4. I prepared a model that let's you produce either 1965 or 1978 Phase II station (in fact, you can just as well assemble 1966 and if you print the TKS twice - 1970). I assembled one of the versions and will show it at a later time, wanting still to asseble the other one. Another project that I finished designing today is the Department of Defence vision of the upcoming Mir, which is cute: I'll be building those model in the coming weeks and will make them available on my blog, just like the Salyut / Almaz series.

Here's the Almaz, the look based on the unflown OPS-4, in the 1978 Phase 2 version.

Soon as I build those, I'll post. I often build publicly on my FB profile: https://www.facebook.com/BartekBiedrzyckiOficjalna/

So, the American Mir base looks as follows:

Appreciate modeling this often over-looked part of space exploration, but an important part.

WOW I like how you brought the artist vision to life in this model, and the idea for multi versions. I was wondering were there plans for additional modules at the base, it looks like ports there above the Soyuz. Great Job!!!!!!!

I believe they new the general plans. I've seen this in ther places and documents - the mIr modules where presented like the TKS 3 (first Kosmos to dock Salyut 7), with the Va capsule intact with the "nose" section, though this is the only occurence where the docking node was presented that way - I believe the artist was inspired by MDA from Skylab. Any other visualisations I've seen used the factual docking node at the end of the narrow section, where Salyut's had the original docking ring.
I will be releasing the model soon, you thing it's worth putting together additional sheet, should anyone want to build four modules and two Soyuzes?
