You're right Charlie, also about the XP-47J, they used the wings and divingflaps from it for the XP72
It still is one of the fastest piston-planes 504mph for the XP-47J and 490 mph for the XP 72 ( the record is held by the Rearbear raceplane 528 mph)

Make the Double Trouble plane! That is nothing but beautiful. If you did the plane with no skin coloring save for markings etc, we could print it on metallic paper!

That looks really cool Billy. I really like the nose art. Nice vintage look. Here's my first idea for a racer.

Some pretty cool paint jobs are showing up here. Keep em coming there is a long ways till the final decision and I haven't made up my mind yet.

Zot sent me a diagram with the fuselage and wing stations on it and I'm grateful. It will help significantly getting certain items in a more accurate location.

There are a couple of things that would be nice now that I have it. I would like pics of a P-47 close enough to see rivet details so I can see exactly where each station is in relation to other parts of the plane. Unfortunately there is no reference to where the wing sits and so forth. Photos of restorations are particularly helpful in this regard.

Also there was a slight problem with the diagram Zot sent. Station 101 5/8 was the station just in front of the firewall station but the firewall is also labeled 101 5/8 so I would like to know what the station should be labeled. Based on that and what I know about the length of the Super Corsairs engine mount and engine I ought to be able to come up with a pretty decent guestimate of the length of the nose in front of the firewall.

There are a couple of walkarounds at The Airstrip - Prime Portal of the P-47 including a restoration.

Regards,

Charlie

Here's an attempt for a more vintage Bendix or Thompson Trophy racer. I tried a shark mouth like lee4752's suggestion on the second version. The intended color is black. I used a dark gray to keep fromobscuring the panel lines.
