Actually I saw something similar in a video from SIGGRAPH a few years back that Jun Mitani (Creator of Pepakura) was working on. (Near)Instant sketch to 3D. Pretty cool stuff.

Seems pretty cool, but I found it a lot of fun to design my plushie parts by hand.

That looks like some interesting design software. I especially like the information on making balloons.

Check out the Shapeshop software posted today - used with Pepakura you can get similar results...
