Toyota Hilux Overdrive - Dakar 2016
Hello everybody!
another small project - Toyota Hilux Overdrive off-road Dakar sport-car, driven by Benedikas Vanagas and co-driver Sebastian Rozwadowski in Dakar-2016 After my struggle with Ultimate Papercraft 3D (see here Fiat-G.55 1/48 or first attempt with UPC3D ) I thought I would never come back to this software. But somehow I "nailed it" by avoiding one mistake I did before in Rhino3D enviroment. (if someone is interested I would describe the method). The model on UPC3D works fine, I can split model in parts by welding or unwelding any edge - so far no problems. Still many work left to do, but here's first result: Draft unfold

First of all I create meshes with T-Spline plug in. The thing is that if you want UPC3D would join (or "weld") any edge of any polygon or part - the initial mesh should come as single, generic object. If you mirror object the UPD3D at symmetry line wouldn't weld those parts no matter the points and edges are identically on both sides. You need to rejoin those point or edges by using these commands: Then if you need to have separate parts for texture apply, you must to create them by duplicating polygons from generic mesh. See pictures below: Single mesh: Duplicated polygons as separate meshes The result Completely welded polygons (except hood line, it is designed such way) Completely unwelded polygons: Here's the sample from G.55 it was impossible to weld edge no matter what, because top and bottom meshes from the begining came as separate objects.

Hi everybody,
started to build a test-model. Major drawback, at the moment, is the printer I have - it produces a very obscure colors. The colors should be more vivid. Everything the rest are pretty much ok. The hardest part was to join bottom with a body. Next step is to go back to 3D model and finish chassis parts.

Test-model is finished:
still model needs some more work on edge painting to improve general look. Hope in a few weeks to prepare release version.
