Abother civilian lightplane by Dr. Zarkov? Yummy!
How did you manage those pesky copyright questions? Most, if not all lightplane makers are very restrictive, when it comes to this. Cheers, Martin

You are right in many cases copyright infringements can be a problem (especially for models from movies) I've always written to ask for permission when it's needed. For example when I was designing the Piaggio Avanti I asked and received kind permission to use the Piaggio logo. Another interesting example is when the general manager of Northrop Grumman bought my design of their UCAV. In the case of the Beechcraft I simply chose to omit the small Beechcraft logo. So I did not use any copyright material there. Regards

---- About my current design progress: In many cases making the assembly instruction is as hard as designing the model itself. It shows not only how to build the model but it's helpful for people who have big collections of models and can't build them all to imagine what the model would look like. Usually the time that it takes me to make the instructions is about 50-60% of the whole time for preparing the kit. Recently I've been working to show the model not only in exploded 3d view but in 2d accurate 3-view drawings. Here is a screenshot of my progress with the instructions and part numbers of my latest kit. Best++ EZ

If you purchase the model from the business that produces/sells it that's legal. If you purchase/obtain a scan or copy of the model that's PIRACY and it's illegal and is not tolerated on this forum.

Tell me if one used the basic design of an existing publoshed model and recolored it in new markings is this illegal or cheating?

No, that is fine as long as you don't represent the recolor as your original work.

And you don't share the file with anyone else if is a scanned copy of a pre-printed model. If the F-35 model was a paid download digital kit that you repaint, you cannot share the file with anyone else. If the F-35 was a free model and you repainted, just get the permission of the original designer to share.
