I would really love to see a larger scale early flying boat with tons of detail and a simple paint scheme. Can you imagine this girl in 1:16 or 1:24? I'd be really really happy in 1:33. I'm in ship mode these days but the aircraft guy in me comes out and if we could marry the two model genres...
PS..any idea what that kite looking device is in the first and 2nd picture?

If you mean the thing between the wings those are the ailerons. That was kind of unique to Curtiss while he was trying to avoid the Wright's patent on wing warping. The color photos appear to be a later model with the ailerons built into the upper wing.

That would be a sleek plane to model. I second this one.

Thanks Wayne! It truly had me baffled. In hindsight wing warping seems to be such a long winded way of control vs. ailerons but hey...we weren't there :(
I can only imagine the headaches due to patent restrictions at the time

This thread hasn't been updated for quite a while, so here is an idea for you designers. I'd love to see the Lewis machine gun 1:1 paper model. Yes, the one with the thick barrel radiator (Lewis Gun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

Both of those would be good to see. Oh, and make the Centurion 1-1 too.
