DD-850 update

Hi, All;

Still working on the final version of DD-850. It will take a while. Some parts need to be redrawn to obtain a better fit.

Meanwhile the next project is under way. Here is the primary drawing for CL-52 as of Nov. 12, 1942. Research has turned up some surprises. Found a photograph taken from the back of an SBD right after the Santa Cruz battle. Had to work with brightness and contrast to get at the color scheme and armament details. The vertical surfaces are almost certainly painted Montbatten Pink, the gray contrast only seems to match that color. The weapons suite has been enhanced in local yards, but is pretty verifiable.

Printed the primary profile in color. Have to admit it doesn't appeal very much.

Scaled up the primary drawing to 1/192. Darned thing is a monster in card. Over thirty-three inches over all. That's going to be a challenge, but at least the five inch turrets are already drawn to scale.

regards, rjccjr

My, that color is a surprise. It almost seems to call out "Over here! Shoot over here!"
This is a great hobby for the retiree - interesting, time-consuming, rewarding - and about as inexpensive a hobby as you can find.
