Epstein Yacht

After a few aborted attempts to create something, I started working on the Epstein Yacht from the Expanse. This one is difficult in that there is not much reference material for anything in the Expanse beyond the Roci. So I'm making some of it up as I go along.

The full gallery is over on my site as usual.

That's a different-looking kind of spacecraft. Any idea of the scale?

In the stories it is a 3 person yacht... so I'm guessing something like 50-80ft long IRL. There aren't any good references for scale in what we have on screen. And I'm aiming for somewhere around 1-2ft long. That means my version will be somewhere around 1/50 or 1/72.

It'll be interesting to see what you do with it. As you said there isn't a lot of information, and the show's design desn't seem to lend itself easily to a paper model. But if you finish it I'm sure as well going to build it.

I played with the textures some more last night and applied scratches. I need to apply some grime next. For those of you that work with blender, you should see the node spaghetti I have for the hull texture.

I added a little more grime and started to unfold things... and I found that the subtleties I added are completely washed out when printing the parts. My printer at least doesn't have the contrast abilities to generate the texture details... oh well... I'm still moving on with the unfolding.

I know nothing about the Expanse but on seeing this ship I think I'm going to have a further look. Good job and thanks for sharing
