I regret not using some inside formers in the wings. I actually just cut some strips and inserted them into the top tailfin to help both keep it's shape and give me something to glue to the rocket body. I also added some strips to the smaller fins to help me keep them in place when I attach them as well. Here you can also see I assembled the connecting, undercarriage "wing" too. Finally you can see the top runner and fin piece attached to the rocket body. I still have to cut and assemble the lower center strut fin and the pods for the ends of the wings. Then the construction will be done, and I'll have figure out what kind of finish to apply to it.

Thanks, everyone!
I am going to spraypaint it eventually, but on my character models, I usually add a skin of tissue or tracing paper coated with mod podge after I sand and fill and sand the seams again. Makes for a better sealed and sturdier model, but I think it will leave to much of it's own overlapping seams. I think I am going to sand and fill the seams on the body, then spray it with some primer, then decide on how shiny I want it to be after that. At one point, I had made my Gort model too reflective, and had to tone it down.

I like the smooth curvature and how everything goes so well together.

I dont know if this will help you but there is a foam wall spackle at any hardware store, dries overnight and that will sand very smooth. Added with tissue paper, might be something that you would like.

Plus, you could cut your tissue paper into a sort of Aztec pattern. Like they do on Star Trek starships. Done in three different shades of grey might make it look kind of cool.

Thanks, I am going to do a combo of all the suggestions. So my plan now is to add the skin made of tracing paper but torn into pieces so it can have plenty of randomness on the surface, but as flat as possible to keep a smooth look. Also used a little spackle to fill some seams. Especially the seam that runs the length of the rocket.
Attached you can see the images of assembling the smaller tailfin pieces and the pods for the tips of the fins. I made an impromptu stand from the earlier test build. I assembled and attached the pods to the wing tips. Basically the assembly is done now. Onward to the finish! To prep for the finish, I sanded the joints of the rocket body. Next I will put the tracing paper skin on it.
