ace stapler, circa 1950, 1:1

Here's a new design I finished late tonight. I have a thing for office supplies. A trip to Office Max is as good as going to a museum.

Pretty neat. Wonder what the history of that style of stapler is. And when did staplers come in to being?
Should I go look right now on my own initiative or wait to see what people here might say, or do both?

One thing that bugs me regarding staplers is that some users change them to making the staple removable, then don't turn the small plate back round to normal staple making mode.

You can find a treasure trove of information at the this site, "Stapler of the Week." The original staplers were quite complex, and like many machines of that era, all of the moving parts were visible.
