sopwith swallow design step-by-step/ebook
I have been designing paper models for years using Adobe Illustrator and good, old-fashioned layout techniques, but now I'm looking to make the switch to Rhino. To that end I've started working my way through Roman Vasyliev's ebook, World War One Card Model Design, A Step-by-Step Guide. I've relied for years on my old sheet metal books, but this volume opens up a new world for me. Well written, well illustrated, and very thorough, it takes you through the entire design process in CorelDraw and Rhino as you design and color a 1/72 Sopwith Swallow . Bravo!

I am in touch with the author through a Facebook group called Card Models Design and Build moderated by master designer, Emil Zarkov. I've written to him to ask him for a contact email. I'll let you know when responds. It's a thorough but complex book that assumes a good working knowledge of 3d drawings and a familiarity with 3d modeling software.
That said, it's a good but challenging sink or swim primer. On another note - are you a designer? |

I don't have the book anymore (victim of several hard drive and computer crashes), but it taught me a lot about how to design in Rhino 3D.
I found this site: https://www.ecwid.com/store/kampfflieger/Books-c430544 that has all 3 of his books. All 3 are a great read. I wish they came in hard copy to go on my bookshelf. |
