CL-52 update
Hi FRD;
Actually 1/192 is not that odd. Most of the yard drawings for ships are done in 1/48. I have a copy of an outboard profile of CV-2 USS Lexington from the Quincy shipyard. It just about rolls out to the entire length of my workshop. Frequently the booklet of general plans is 1/96. So, 1/192 is half that size and gives a good sized model of a destroyer. It is a matter of proportion when doing the drawing. CL-52 is really pushing the limits, but it has the advantage of common parts with the DD's. Believe it or not, I was attracted by the USS Midway, but thought once about it and said "Naw! That's even nuttier than usual. You probably wouldn't live long enough to finish the job. And besides, where could you possibly put it?" Regards, rjccjr |
