Front

Hello gents,

I have got the front part shape done 'digital way' as good as I could, but to be on a safe side I am getting it done 'old school' way as well.
(The bits on the photo are 2.5x bigger than 1/33)

Hello gents,

Recently I managed to print, glue and dry fit some of the designed segments.

Comparing to what I had from B-737 they are very small

Anyway, they fit very nice and the red straps are fitting very well.

I will try do glue the rest ASAP.
Also I started working on the air intakes.

Kind regards

Cybermac

Exciting thread! Just discovered it, I will check in regularly. I prefer the older U2 versions too, although I also kind of like the elongated look of the recent ones. The historical value of the Gary Powers era U2's is much more interesting than the later versions. And I like the white livery.

I'm curious about this version but I'm more interested in U-2 operations from Taiwan. From very few sources they had very hard service life there.i was thinking of making one of those from Murph's models but those were different versions so a no-go there.

Still looking froward to this build

Hello gents,

@ Paper Kosmonaut - thank you for your kind words, U-2C of Garry Powers is no. 2 on the list

@ Butelczynski - do you have got any documentation which could allow to produce any particular example of U-2 from Taiwan Air Force?
Please send me a PM if you could.

I think they had U-2 from U-2C onwards (no U-2A,B,D) but I may be wrong and at least 5-6 were shot down over the PRC which clearly shows that they were doing very dangerous missions.

kind regards

Cybermac

I never found any credible documentation on markings of ROC U-2.Only speculations and Besfong decal makers on ebay.I think those would be best bet for now.

In short ROC kept all US stencils, replaced fuselage US roundel with Taiwanese and removed all roundels and serials from wings. Personal or individual markings were only on nose (not sure if both sides, likely just port) and they were pretty small, nearby 20-30 cm size but that's my guess.

ROC just like ROK (S.Korea) air forces seem to keep historical information secret forever.

Hello,

Thank you for the information. Looks like those Bestfong decals may be the only credible source of documentation in this case.

If I am correct, ROC had the U-2 from 'C' version onwards (enlarged air intakes), so their scheme will be left for later because first I am planning to do some 'small intakes' versions (A,B,D, F).
