Well folks, voting is over. We have a mighty close vote three ways and the current logo edged out the others. I think that might be based purely on the slogan though. There has been lots of nice development since starting this poll and it seems that there is lots of interest in continuing development. B-manics logo is also a great option. Since Jason's original logo won and there was no clear winner, I will leave the choice in his and Rick's hands....

I really like that one.... I would however take the red 3D lettering produced by Bill J and put that inside the blue folded out box, maybe without the "dot com" bit on the end though. And then put the tag line "Paper Beats Rock Every Time" in 2D text in the blue band at the bottom using dark blue with a white drop shadow.

A bit like this maybe......

I also stuck a fuzzy drop shaddow in behind the logo to make it punch a bit.... The text needs a perspective correction to pull it in line with the opened box though.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Hmm... I can give the text a rock texture then add the slogan?
Feel free to play with the SketchUp file and have fun with it :D

I have also been thinking about throwing it through Kerkythea and having a photo realistic render. But I think that is probably overkill for a website logo

Nice Fozzy and goney - fix the perspective on the lettering with the box and we'd have a winner, IMHO!

I don't use sketchup.... I wish I did....

However... In think a rock texture on the text could get too messy. It'd be too confusing at the finished size. Bold simplicity is what we need. It's a logo and that's always the best way to go with them.

What we're trying to create is something that's instantly recognizable. Take a look at the worlds best logos. McDonald's, Nike, Virgin, etc etc very very simple and bold statements that are instantly recognizable. no matter what form they're in.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Thats exactly why it looks as plain as it does Fozzy. I think it would be fun to try and simplify it even further, but haven't had any "ah-ha" moments lately. Suggestions?

The rock texturing idea was an attempt to fit the slogan in there was all

I think (as someone mentioned) it's needs a ".com" on it. maybe in lowercase, or halfsize letters?? i.e. PAPERMODELERS.com

I'm not an arteest, so I won't insult anyone with an attempt to do it myself...
