That full size Robbie is soooo coool. Showed Carol, my wife, and she said it was 'sad' - "what would a grown adult do with a 1:1 Robbie the Robot ?" Oh well....

I guess I just haven't grown up yet, lol!
If it's a "no" on the 1:1 Robby, then how about a 1:1 Iron Giant?
I gotta see this one when he's done!

And here's my progress on a paper 1:6 Robby!

AAAIIEEE!!! NOOOOOOO!!!! Crunch!
Sorry bout that mate. lol

Thanks! And thank you too, Captain!

It took me several days to work out how I was going to make the body. Although it looks like a simple cylinder with beveled edges, it's really a little more complex. I made a bulkhead to retain the circular shape in the middle, a central column to add vertical support and the top and bottom bevels are separate objects so they add both horizontal and vertical support.
Here is how the 3d object ended up looking:

Awesome work thus far, sir. Anxious to see how you handle the rest. But take your time. I know when I rush, I make mistakes that take longer to fix than to take the time doing it right the first time...

I built a vac formed kit of Robby years ago and it was the hardest model i've ever built so i empathise with how difficult your build is.

Hi the model was a limited run done by a company in London, It was really
difficult to cut to the rounded edges to release the parts from the sheets and
glue edge to edge. But when built it was a fairly accurate replica of Robby.

Your build is coming along great

Tom

Thanks. Here some pics of the arms construction. I made them so I can rotate the hands. I also post engineered a support column so the main body can rotate.
