My own version of the "Silent Running" drones

Been kinda working on this design on and off for quite some time. These drones are pretty much my favorite robots of all time. One of my first card models I designed and built was one of these drones, and it had springy legs using telescoping tubes and orthodontic braces elastics. If I can find an image of it, I'll post it here. Anyhoo, here's where I am on it:
The 3d model with some reference

And the resulting card model

Thanks, Philip. I couldn't find any stills, but I did find this digital version of a 40 year old 8mm stop motion film that shows some various paper models I made back then. Including the little orange drone at 1min 30 sec in. Earlier, there are some Empire Strikes Back creations and an Apollo era Command Module I made for an Astronaut action figure I picked up on a Trip to Cape Canaveral back then. Enjoy.

Nice little piece of vintage filmwork.

Was that one of the Schaper Stomper 4x4 trucks from long ago?

Yes it is! It had the two little ships that launched from swing out side pods

Thanks! I'm trying something new to me on this one. Not using any tabs, just edge gluing it all. So far it's working. It does make nice, clean edges.

Thanks, I think I was about 12 or 14 at the time, I can't remember what the make of that truck was. It was my buddies little brother's truck. We just co-opted it into the movie. We actually filmed that on my friends dad's new pool table. His dad wasn't thrilled at our plan to pump fake blood through the beheaded dino's neck...we had to nix that shot, lol!

Made a leg today. Found critical design flaw in my side pods, had to go back to the drawing board and re make that portion of the templates.

So, when will the Director's Cut, limited edition, boxed set with postcards, poster and badge of this film be released? Or, like other films, the reeboot of it ?
Love stop motion work.😃
Also love Silent Running. Those are the droids we are looking for !
