Herky, the County class GMD's were up-scaled Type 81's, same machinery concepts, radar and guns. These are on the list. Kevin, excellent feedback along with a very realistic sea-state photo. This photo reminded me too much of my chronic sea-sickness in the North Atlantic. She is beginning to look more ship-shape Don especially with tonight's work.

Main deck fitted in place along with the superstructure supports. I have forgotten to print 01 deck strengthener though. The bow section required further sanding, but the concept for developing forms certainly worked.

The stern section, especially the VDS well, needs further work and adjustment to make a less sloppy fit.

Thanks for stopping by folks.

Hull skins taped in place to check for alignment, everything good so far. The bridge deck fitted without adjustment.

The helicopter hangar with its lift (elevator) arrangement.

So far, everything is going as planned with just some minor adjustments here and there.

Thanks for stopping by folks.

Hello all, have been plugging away at this for a while now with several iterations drawn and tested. This is the latest for the particularly difficult funnel deck superstructure. To cut a long story short, it was difficult to get everything to line up and fit.

So, proof of concept parts and they work this time. Measurements and angle projections are spot-on.

These are just tacked in place to check for fit, so these will be transferred to the final print page.

The latest deck has also changed, this is Mk.2 as a test-bed.

Stay tooned.

Very nice project, it takes a lot of perseverance to get those minor mis-fits worked out, but it is coming along quite nicely.

some more changes

Hello all,

I had to make some more changes to the funnel deck and hangar structure. So, on with Mk.3 versions. The new parts take the card thicknesses for upper decks into consideration. I have also progressed the alternative versions.

These parts go together surprisingly quickly despite the somewhat heavy structural components.

These parts, along with the bridge deck superstructure, have been difficult to design due to the pronounced shear and the fact that the upper-works of these ships were designed as an afterthought. Most decks, housings and equipment etc., evolved as new equipment came on line.

Thanks for stopping by folks.
