During the beginning of the design , I did in 1/48 and 2 years for that size. But later changed to be 1/25. Also the details were added along to the size of the scale.

Kooklik,

Challenger 4-6-6-4 #3985 has been converted from being coal fired to being Bunker C Fuel Oil fired. This was done to prevent against coal cinder caused forest and prairie fires.

Not sure how this might affect authentic weathering of the Big Boy, but I would think that the way she now weathers it would present a more "oily" than a "dusty" appearance as it would with coal.

Rick Shivik
aka USA Supersonic

BTW, you're still super awesome, dude!

Sure is incredible. Looks like each drive wheel must be about three inches in diameter. Can't imagine being able to build this monster myself, having neither the space or the skill. I surely stand in awe of the person who can design it. I'll bet the completed model will walk away with top honors at any show.

Hello all and thanks all kind comments.
And thanks to Rick for detail of authentic dusty weathering for Big Boy. I'm considering to add this weathering too.

I have new update for the ash pans. Big Boy's fire box is large as much as the body. There are 2 ash pans with 3 ash doors at the bottom. 1 in the front and 2 in the back. Three of them are manipulated by 3 wheel handles near the ash pans which I will build in later.
I filled details of hinges for all side doors. I think these doors are for cleaning or maintenance.
