yf-23
hi guys,
well, since forum had recently few issues, and looks like latest threads got most of the damage, it has been removed. but no fear, ill post updates as the current status; so for the backup here is the basic shape that was created again so far: however, i also started on engine compartment, intake and exhaust: and of course undercarriage front i have done the main gear leg, support leg, retracting mechanism actuator still needs some work on top: rear, here is done solely main leg, still needs support leg, and whole retracting mechanism and torque link (that triangle that is by schock absorber): thats for now, more updates soon if you see something what i could do better, please feel free to comment, i gladly make models as close to originals as possible regards, Marko |

It looks good so far. BTW, what scale and size will it be?

scale is roughly 1:33, hard to say actually, since no information were 100% reliable, however i can tell you dimensions i have chosen as 1/33:
length: 650 mm height: 129 mm wingspan: 405 mm that would be roughly, may vary +/- few mm. Marko |

hi Marko
yes, it is the same project, however i tried to use those ribs we created few years ago, but those were useless, since the final surface got wrinkled. most likely extrated curves were uneven.so i scrapped old ribs, and created new ones from one basic plan i've found here: http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/YF-23%204%20View.gif however, old ribs were far more accurate in outline, so i was bit frustrated when i saw that it just wont work :( altough, also these drawings are inaccurate, so i had to edit all cross-sections to get as close as possible to the real thing, especially the engine segments and intake, hopefully it will be unrollable nice regards, Marko |

I always liked this bird better than the F-22 and was actually thinking of designing it myself, but it looks like you're doing a good job and I can't wait to see the finished kit.

thanks for the kind words guys,
cmdr, i think it would be doable, but im not sure when the model will be that far to start the beta build, altough white model could be made faster to try the fitting basically still needs following: -rear landing gear wells -avionics bays -gun bay -weapons bay + weapons (most likely aim-120 amraams only, or might be couple of JDAMs too) -some work on the cockpit -exterior details (probes, antennas, sensors...) -not to mention coloring and willja, i must agree with you on that, yf-23 has much more fine lines for my taste, f-22 is somewhat boxy. Like a comparison of '89 bmw to '09 bmw Marko |
