Any updates on this Grizley? I know you've made a few other things in the meantime, but we're still waiting eagerly for this one :D

Wow! Has it really been almost 4 months? Time flies when you're having fun, or so the saying goes. Where to begin... well in early September my 2 year old son broke his arm jumping off his bed, so I took a break from modeling to tend to him, after about 5 weeks he's healing up good and everything's going great. Then I get a call in early October that my 27 year old cousin had passed away of kidney failure, which I took pretty hard cause I was very close with her, so I still didn't have the drive to pick modeling back up yet. Then after all that the holidays took over and I'm sure you all know how that goes. Now that everything is back to normal (well as normal as it gets in my house anyway) I figured it would be a good time to ease back in. Little did I realize there would be 25,412 posts to catch up on. I'm thinking I might not get to them all. LOL

Sorry to anyone who was trying to contact me about any projects, I promise that I won't disappear again.
I will end up releasing all the models I have going at the moment, just need to figure out which ones are the closest to being done. Today will be the first time I've even opened my project folder since September so it'll probably be a few days while I get back in to the swing of things. Good to be back and a belated Happy Holidays to all the good lads and ladies of the forum.

Welcome back

Hey Griz,

Sorry to hear about your loss, and glad to hear you've been taking care of yourself and doing what you need to do. Also really glad to hear that this project is still alive of course. Welcome back.

Steve

Beautiful! Bee You Tea Full! I will build one of these for sure! Hoping there is also a sistership 69' Trans Am. Any plans for a convertable to show off the interior? Few ever saw, less ever got a rag top T/A with only 8 built.

After settling in from the move to the new place I decided it was time to finish off the Camaro build. After I wrap this up I will go back and finish building Voltron.

I tried unfolding the body parts differently around the front and rear quarter panels so less cuts showed, I think it looks better now when compared to the white test build. Strengthening the build in certain spots this time with some cardboard after some minor modifications to the 3d model, makes a much more sturdy build that's able to be held in the hands when being worked on and not worry about crushing it. Not completely happy with the way Pepakura downsamples the textures to 1024 x 1024, the original was 2048 x 2048. So the smaller details are now blurred out. I may end up going back and redrawing the templates in inkscape. Next to build is the interior shell, probably have more to post later this week.

Thanks cp1963

Here is where I'm at with the model. The main body shell is done except for the tail light parts. Front clip is done except for the front grille assembly and suspension parts, which I am working on getting together now. Interior is textured and ready to unfold, wheels are ready to unfold, and the engine is ready to unfold as well. So far it hasn't been an extremely difficult model to build, the builder just needs to ensure parts are built and assembled in the correct order due to the fact some areas are inaccessible after some parts are attached.

Pics make a model look so much worse than what you thought it was before, I need to learn to slow down when building. It's like when I was a kid and got a plastic kit, sometimes I would skip painting and just slap it together cause i was too excited to see what it would look like assembled
