Photoshop help
I've got a question for any Photoshop Gurus out there. After slaving over a hot keyboard and mouse for a few hours, I go to print a model page from Photoshop, and it comes out like this:
After saving and opening the file in Acrobat Reader, then printing, it comes out normal: The only difference between the files is flattening layers and saving. And the program it's printed from. I've checked every setting and preference, but I can't find one that says "shrink to Papermate's build size" |

Murph-
Have you tried opening the file with another PDF reader? If so, does the size change still happen? What version Photoshop are you using? What version of Reader? What operating system are you running on? Don't know an answer right off the top of my head, but I can do some digging later tonight after work.

You need to check the image size and canvas size....in pbotoshop it will print actual size in comparison to the size the canvas.
So your working area should be 8.5x11. Pixels Per Inch, (PPI) should be working in 200PPI to 300PPI. I always work in 300PPI. If I had to guess, looks like on the PS image you attached it is in 72PPI. The reason the PDF file looks larger is it may be clipping the white area of your canvas and stretching your working image to fit if at 72PPI. |

Settings for the canvas are 7.56 by 10.5, with pixels set to 200.
The only thing I can think of is when I import the raw files to start organizing and coloring, they're at 500 pixels. I copy from the 500 px sheet and paste to the 200 px sheet. |

Going opposite, 200px canvas to 500px canvas, will make a part look smaller when copying and pasting. If you go 500px to 200px, the parts will look huge on the canvas for the 200px page.
When importing the raw file, change the setting to 200px and make sure that canvas size matches the working canvas before copy/pasting the parts. |

I do the change from 500 to 200 because Rhino exports at a small scale. 200 px would end up with parts at about 1:700 scale.

Sorry Aaron....you lost me on that last post.
I don't have Rhino, so I can't recreate myself. Although, I didn't ask before and don't see it mentioned.....when you export from Rhino, what kind of file is it? Then when importing into PS, what kind of file do you create? |

I use cutepdf to print it as a pdf. Photoshop can't open anything that Rhino exports. This puts it out as a vector pdf which I then open in photoshop (converting it to raster format) to scale, arrange into sheets, and color.

If it is normal in Acrobat Reader but prints small in Photoshop, it is only going on the information it has. Reader requires a smaller dpi to function but Photoshop deals in absolutes - it prints what it sees and in this case presumably, too low a resolution for your requirement. What is the original format? What did you put into PS? It can only gives as good as it gets.
