Between awake and asleep...
... I've been designing in my sleep. Has this ever happened to others?

Yep, kind of.
At night I have a hard time getting my mind to shut down, so I spend the time til I fall asleep working out model ideas.. Other nights, I stay up very late doing the same but actually working on projects.. I have managed to do complete repaints/mods all in one sitting.... Jeff |

Yes, I've actually solved design problems in my sleep that I couldn't solve when I was awake.

the same here (at least when I'm still awake).
With my eyes shut I often manage to see the 3D forms transform into 2D parts better. But then I have to remember the next morning what I thought of. |

i have noticed that I have actually worked on designing maps in my sleep, only to finish them digitally later that morning when I get to the office

Good to know I'm not the only one. I actually went to sleep after designing/building, and in a dream, I picked up on a problem. My first lazy/sleepy solution was not valid, so I had to come up with extra parts in my sleep to solve the issue. I woke up and knew just what to do.
I'd like to also thank those who refrained from any "snarky" responses. I know it might have been tempting, and I wouldn't have been upset if you had......lol!

I don't know what "snarky" comments people would say. I actually think it's a very valid way to let your brain free associate and solve problems without being constrained by judgement and preconception.
I discovered this while in college. I noticed that if I was really stumped by a problem, if I took a short nap I would usually come up with the solution. I would put myself to bed, even in the middle of the day. As soon as I would start drifting off and forget about everything my mind would seem to go to the right place. It worked for me. For the "snarky" people out there, maybe they just need to chill out and take a nap.

While I sleep "The Sleep Of The Damned" (rarely remember dreams) I have often pondered problems of all types before drifting off to slumber and had a solution upon awakening.
