Very comprehensive and useful. Just stored and sorted the download.
What are the "normal" versions - all blueish? Suppose they are for some special purpose, but I deleted them. - L.

All with .tif look normal All with _bmp.tiff look grey scale All with _normal.tif are blue. Anyone have any idea what the purpose of that is?

It looks like displacement maps are included. Assuming the _bmp are bump maps, and the _normal are normal maps.

Oh, please - explain bump maps and normal maps as if I were a three-year old... (or at least eleven).
The white versions, I ventured to guess, would be for mixing with a colored layer underneath. But now I rather think it might be more complicated than that. On a related theme, does anyone know where could I get wood-textures (or rather patterns) in vector format, for Illustrator and similar? All the sources I found required membership in one or another way. I would like a pattern which could be printed on to colored paper to simulate wood grain. The idea is to cut wood parts from colored paper in order to eliminate the edgecoloring routine. The pattern really could be in black and transparent to allow me to choose color for the pattern lines, in order to let the basic paper color shine through unobstructed. One pattern for straight wood stringers, like pine, plus another pattern for sheet wood, like ply, is what I'd like. Those two patterns would be sufficient for what I need. All other variations can be made by choosing paper colors. Appreciate your help in educating an oldtimer... Leif
