Nose design help needed.
Hello guys,
I need some severe help designing a spacecraft nose. This is about the best picture of it I have: I already made the hull aand the boards, but neeed to fit the nose. As a base I want to use something from my Polyus model, namely this kind of nose: and add some kind of shroud on top of it to form the nose. Got totally no idea how to design it. It would be nice if it was simple (like four parts). Anyone able to help / sketch - I'm ready to do it by hand anyway...

Looks like you need a cone for the base. Do you know how to hand draw a cone?
Here is something that might help: How to Hand Draw Cones Hope you get it drawn, looking forward to seeing your model completed! Mike |

Yeah, now, this is an Idea. To have a flattened cone. Thanks, will proceed from this point!

That nose looks a lot like the tip of a sword.
Interesting ship.

It's "Invincible" by Rafal Szlapa. An illustration from Stanislaw Lem's novel "Invincible". It's kinda classical SF novel, not only in Poland
Rafal made several illustrations for a recent audiobook edition, including this one. And inspired me to make a model. Tip of a sword. I smell upcoming kitbashing

What about this:
I drew a cylinder in SketchUp and extruded the upper half of it. Then I formed a cone-shape thingie for the cockpit and pulled it out a bit. Last I added a block beneath the cockpit cone, cut it to shape so that it matches the curve of the cockpit and pulled the bottom face out in two directions to get the slope on the edges. I have attached the SketchUp file for you to play with it. |

Much the same but perhaps more buildable.
These unfolded shapes will not fit together properly unless any scaling is done equally on both X and Y axes Last edited by looker; 11-19-2016 at 12:08 PM. |
