Modeling in 2D question.
1.How to calculate cylinder in "flat out 2D" way without going into 3D application to calculate it
There is some more, please wait

C = 2*pi*r
H = height C = Circumference r= radius of the cylinder So for a cylinder unrolled, it'll be a rectangle C x H in size. |

I have Google Circumference Calc favorited as I'm always referencing it during designs. I haven't found an iPhone app yet for circle calculators that I like.

How to build this in 2D (Draw in real-life or/and do in 3D app is still hard)

Decide the diameter of the top and bottom circles that form the cylinder(D).
Figure out the circumference (C) of the circles so you can make a strip of paper to go around the perimeter of the circles. Circumference = pi times the Diameter C = 3.142 * D Decide how thick you want the cylinder (H). Draw two circles, one for the top of the cylinder and one for the bottom of the cylinder (D). Draw a long rectangle with the length of the circumference (C) you figured out earlier and the thickness you want (H). Add glue tabs if you want them on either the circles or the rectangle.
