Radial Engines
Are there suggestions for well engineered full-cylinder radial engines post WW1 that would look good exposed on aircraft in the 1/24 and 1/33 scale? I have been thinking of trying my hand at designing some, but just do not have the time with all the repaints/trial builds on the list.

Here is a Wayback Machine hit on a site that has some radial engines 1914-1920.

Those are Rotary Engines, not Radials.

I haven't seen any radial engines available as individual downloads. There are some fairly good radials that are part of kits, notably those in the Halinski line. It would be nice to see someone come up with a batch of detailed radial engine kits, up to and including that monster 4-row corncob.

Aaron Murphy (Murph's Models) says he's planning to create some detailed piston engines in 1/32, with instructions for upscaling/downscaling. Stay tuned....

A bit off the topic, but I ran across this video that might be of interest to the gearheads here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFHhjD9tyeM

Best Way
Purchase a model that has a good radial engine design. Substitute that in your model.
Designing your own can take you on a never ending trip down perfections lane. You'll get into spin casting low temperature alloys to obtain the perfect finning, push-rod and rocker box details. Then there's the rear of the engine which just begs for more detail and so on - the old slippery slope of being a modeler..., -Gil |

I believe there are several kits that have built up engines included. Some from Halinski, Orlik, and probably others. Ileav Koncho has one in his Corsair. Doesn't the Rose DC-3 have one available in its collection, or is it a half built? Good luck.
