Papermodels from .stl files

I've recently put some .stl (3D print files) on Landships II. I have read that it's possible to go from an .stl file via Blender to a papermodel. That would open up a rich source of new papermodel subjects if it wasn't too difficult.

Does anyone have experience with processing .stl files to papermodels in this way?

There is a really nice 42cm Dicke Berta (Big Bertha) 3D model I'd really like to see as a papermodel

Regards,

Charlie
