Lighthouse has attractive architecture. I'd wager the wire running down side is for grounding lightning strikes.

Thank you all for your very kind response

I hope you will enjoy the extension. I will show a preview of what I am going to build later.

southwestforest, I thin you are right with your explenation of the wire. I found no fitting material for this. Even my finest wire appeared to heavy.

Pat_Craft, you are also right. The boats are made by paper as you can see here in the forum.

Hello together,

here are my plans and beginnings for the extension.

In the first picture you can see the whole area I will make a model of, but much more "compressed" if this word is correct.

There are three lighthouses, which are marked red. The first one above I have already shown. The second one in the lower left corner is the so called "minaret" which is my actual avatar and the third one is the corresponding rear light. Both make a line of orientation for ships coming up from Bremen towards the Nort Sea (see last picture) . There is also a semaphore from another lighthouse of the German Bight which has been rebuilt in Bremerhaven to keep its historical meaning. The floating pier for tugs will also a very important part of the model.

The front light, the so called "minaret" I have already built from a kit of the german publisher Kartonwerft (Imogen Stowasser). The rear light I have taken from a model of an independend german designer and rescaled ist. The semaphore I will take from the lighthouse kit Hohe Weg from HMV.

I think that the build oft the minaret was succesful whereas the rescaled rear light did not convince me and I am going to try another time by a better rescaled version.

Hmm, brainstorm of dubious practicality - know anyone with usably long hair who would be willing to contribute to the cause?

While my build of the display is pausing I am trying to finish a smaller passenger ship, the ALTE LIEBE, a german tourist ship which first ran from Hamburg to Heligoland in the 1960ies and in 1984 was rebuilt to run another 20 years from Bremerhaven to germanys only offshore island under the name HELGOLAND.

The build lasts for about a year now but I hope I will finish till christmas and then continue with the display.
