1/25 scale? wow...this is going to be a BIG diorama!
Are you adding an extension to the house to display it? Only things it will need is a Spectre in the air! At 1/25 scale, thats more a 5 foot (1.6m) wingspan!!

Yeah, I haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to set up the display yet, either in one big long convoy on a series of connectable shelves or as a group, having just loaded the truck with the escort vehicles around it... Which would require an extra vehicle to load the downed chopper onto the truck, a small crane of some sort, any suggestions?
As for the Spectre, please stop putting ideas like that in my head because I started thinking of how high above the ground that would need to be, meaning a smaller scale one placed in the right manner might just look like a Spectre would, from the ground, at that height... Then I started thinking of ways to incorporate it into the diorama... At which point I thought it might be best to just stop thinking and start building what I already have. |

If you need a Crane, look at the Fly Model M-88 Hercules recovery vehicle
Although, the trailer, or the HET might have a winch on it, to hoist the helicopter onto the trailer

Thanks Rick, that's exactly what I was looking for, I think I skimmed past that on a recent search, thinking it was a WW2 vehicle, I wasn't aware they were still using it but from what I can gather after a quick look, they still were back in 2004 which is close to the timeframe of this diorama.
The truck does have two heavy winches, which could also be used to drag the chopper aboard, I guess I'll see how I go as time and builds go by before I decide wether to include the M88 or not. It would look great though, lowering the broken chopper onto the trailer, it's very tempting. |

Ambitious project. The diorama will be quite late.
Looking forward to the diorama and vehicle builds. JoeG
