Another milestone has been reached.

As you will see, most of the walls have been added. There are a few gaps and these are for gates. From now on there are no instructions for the placement of any of the parts.

Knowing my preference for straight lines and "order" it will be an up hill task to stop the diorama from being renames "New York". Perhaps the old fashioned system of closed eyes and a pin may be needed !!!

It's looking jucier by the minute. I'm a straight line man too and I can understand your anguish about placement. Still, I see some printed tracks there. Should give you a bit of a start. Carry on!

As you will see from the pictures, all the buildings have been added.

One of my first thoughts was "why have a city wall with gaps" I have to admit that I cheated a bit and scanned a couple of the towers to make the town more "secure"

The buildings are completely different from the MPR versions. Most of these are made up of 3 or 4 parts, while the MPR buildings had, in some cases, over 20.

The final stage will be to add the details. I have discovered a bit of a problem - but more on that the next time ;-)

As I mentioned earlier, the last stage is the details. These include the market and figures. There's also a few animals and wooden crates and barrels.

I mentioned earlier that I had found a problem. All the figures are either full frontal or sideways. I decided to move the market stalls closer to the river so the figures could look at the stalls. It was a waste of time because the figures are so small you couldn't tell which way they are looking - (Ah - But I would!)

It seems that the figures are mostly pictures of the standard model railway figures, so there are quite a few railway workers.

I'm glad I left the boat to be added at the end because I decided to add furled sails. I think they add a nice "touch".

Now, I have to decide what to make next. It will have to be something simple because I have been asked to make some origami Christmas trees and I've made 50 of them -swapping between them and the diorama.

Just a few more pictures.

I should explain the first picture in the previous post. The horses look as if they are standing still. I already had a cart in the market so I put the cart near one of the city gates. I added two men who have stopped the cart to check the cargo before it leaves the town.

I also added the buttresses - they make the wall look much better.

This has turned into a very impressive diorama. I liked the way that construction emulated the way the town and canal would have been built over time.
