Ironclad

I've start working on some Civil War Ironclad in the PaperShipWright style.
The first one will be CSS Louisiana , next USS Monitor and maybe CSS Atlanta.

Re: Ironclad

A fleet! Love that - can setup a blockade. I wonder if anyone likes to do buildings and can make some coastal forts or whatnot to go along

Re: Ironclad

Dear Dragos,

Is it possible for you to make the whole hull model - because waterline models seems a bit unfinished as for me. Just a thought

Re: Ironclad

What a great idea for a new line of ships, and for an era that is sometimes overlooked.

What scale were you think of using for the design?

The option for waterline and full hull is great and worth thinking about...use in a diorama would be best using waterline, of course, but a stand lone scale model in full hull would be a great selling point as well. If sold in sets, perhaps a simple sea base for placement of the models in a historical battle portrayal or even a sea base for the single model itself. I find few kits provide a sea base, something I think adds a lot to a more realistic overall depiction of the ship. I often use a sea base for my builds for that very reason, which is one reason I build pretty much only waterline configuration ship models.

Do you have a few pictures for us of your current projects?

Cheers!
Jim

Re: Ironclad

You're right SergeyV , but I do not have good blueprints , only 2 sides view. The USS Monitor will have full hull. For the rest a small diorama will keep the place of the hull.

ngwithrsd : send me a PM with your email and I will send you the CSS Louisiana and CSS Atlanta.
