Gamilon Exterminator Class Destroyer

While thinking of a way to reboot my P.1106R design, I decided to build that really nice EDF Destroyer that's been sitting in my to-build list for ages:

I thought it was a really nice model. Then I realized...this one needs a sparring partner. Hence I decided to make a quick design of its counterpart -- the Gamilon Destroyer!

I recall watching hordes of these Yamato fodder charging to their doom with nary a shot fired.

I managed to find some nice 3-views from Starship Schematics Database.

After fiddling around with meta, I came up with a nice skeleton/outline:

And eventually ended up with this:

Some simple texturing work:

After unfolding in Pepakura, I finally came up with this finished model. (OC people please hit the BACK BUTTON of your browser! This finished model has no edge coloring nor did I bother using joining strips. Turn back! TURN BACK! You were warned!)

I've already uploaded a PDO file for this in the Sci-Fi section.

Just a suggestion. Instead of leaving the dashed-line fold marks on your pieces, try this. After unfolding and separating the individual pieces, put tick mark indicators on the outside edges of the pieces, and then remove the dashed lines. Use the tick marks to mark the edges with pin pricks for scoring on the backside of the card stock before cutting the piece. Works for me, and results in a cleaner looking model.

An easier way would be to fade the fold line transparency in the options menu on Pepakura.

Believe it or not, but I was singing the theme song in my head the whole time I was building this. I think it permanently burned an LSS loop in my brain cells. I won't stop. We're offfff to outer space... we're leaving mother earth....

I didn't know Pepakura could that. I'll check it out. Thanks.

That's what I wanted to do actually. I've been pushing this idea to Tamasoft (the guys who made Pepakura) since three years ago. They graciously accepted my suggestion but made no promises on implementing this in a future release.
What I can do is to print the model into a PDF, then import it to Inkscape where I can manually add the crease/fold reference points, then delete the score lines.

Amazing. Other ships of series is a dream, like Cosmo Tigers, or other Comet Empire and Gamilon small crafts... Excellent work!
