Spybot (Dr Toby) toy critique please

I would like honest opinions about this toy, I wanted to keep the design simple since I am still drawing in 2D.

The origional drawing I used for reference is a thumbnail image of a T-shirt with Dr Toby on it. I had no full size drawing to go by. I drew the toy to "appear" 3D (spherical) meanwhile keeping simplicity.

I had difficulty deciphering his head and deciding how to solve what looked like a perspective view, while keeping the same look as the drawing.

I'm sorry, I forgot the link to Spybot S&D where you can view the thumbnail T-shirt.

I like it Phil.... I've got SpyBot on my computer, so I'm going to print yours out and build it to live on top of my computer case.

Honest Opinion: It's a Cool Toy!!

I design my model parts in 2D as well, mostly in Photoshop. There's nothing wrong with working up a prototype that way.

I think a lot of people come in here and see all the 3D programs that some designers use and think that it's the only way to design complex or simple models. It Isn't!!

Everybody designed things with a pencil and paper before we had 3D design programs. It doesn't nessesarily make a model better to design it in 3D Software.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Not something I'd probably ever build - but I think it's cool looking and a good representation of the subject - good design

Ditto - not my cup of tea but you've done a fine job capturing the character.

Seems to me you have done a great job of capturing the essence of the figure. Congrats.

He is a Secret Agent...not sure of his country, but he isn't FBI or CIA.
He infiltrates baddies on your CPU and wipes them out.

You guys are too nice...but I need critique (constructive criticism) because I feel something is wrong with the head. I do not translate perspective views well sometimes. It seems to me the head is mostly square, with a slight angle from top to bottom. But when I built the part that way it looked oversized. So, I cut the depth of the head in half, and this is the result. It does give the illusion of perspective (not my intention) but the part just looks wierd.

how about a side view as well? since its a perspective problem (maybe) that will help us to see it on the puter.

Definitely not FBI or CIA .... .
... but a friend of mine.

Possible alternate interpretation of the head ... is it two truncated rectangular pyramids seen face side on ?
