First, thanks to Paper Invaders for providing the kit. I built this a few months ago, but I wanted to take another stab at it and add some of my own special touches (I’m a big Mazinger Z fan, and this one is going in my office). I initially tried to add some luster to the parts by gluing on some metallic, colored origami paper; this created a "hammered metal" appearance that I liked but I was not fully satisfied with (maybe another Mazinger Z project). Later, I found some sticky-back vinyl; this is what you see now. I also added the gray filler between his finger and wrist joints. I made some additional gluing tabs on some of the parts so that I can make them fit flush. I have all the other vinyl colors I need including a vinyl “high-shine” silver. I am also going to add his Drill Missiles and Southern Cross Knives (launched from his Jet Scrander). Like the GX-01R (SoC) version, I will make the second Jet Scrander from the OVA: Mazinger Z vs. The Dark General and some of the other parts form the GX-01R version. More to come…
