First model EVER completed!

I know you guys don't care, and I know 'everyone is doing/has done it' but...

BUT!!!...

I have to share this!

My first card model ever is complete. The VF-1S Valkyrie using the original diagram from Shunichi Makino I believe.

The only real problems I had were
1) took me a bit to figure out the sweep-wing pivots.
2) the nose was a bit confusing for some reason, and ended up with a hole in the tip.
3) the canopy was a nightmare
4) I think I need to do more of these. Some pieces didn't seem to line up well...could be due to bad technique in folding and cutting.

Other than that, something I love and fun to build!

So, here's some pics.

Kind of exciting to see something finished.

My next model is Thunderchild's SDF-1. Kinda stuck on it though;
Stuck with Thunderchild's SDF-1

I haven't received much help, so I'm going to plow through anyway and return to the piece... I could always make another Veritech...maybe a VF-25...

Posts like this make me SICK - SICK I say!

Why - cause its your first darn build and it rocks! I have said this before but my fist build was done with a stapler..... I was proud when i moved on to tape then I found cardmodelers.net and this community and learned..... lots...

Keep the great models rolling!
Chris

So... at about 8pm, I started with this...

And now, at 10:45pm with no stops, this is how far I've gotten:

Now, I have heard the tip to 'Take your time'... but... is this excessive? I just want the next one to be damn beautiful

In case you are all wondering, this is the VF-25 Messiah from Sascha Kunzke. I'm so glad he put those lines in to show me where to fold or I'd be screwed :S

Nice build of the 1S, that one was my first model ever as well! However I gotta say the pictures are a bit blurry, so I would suggest using a tripod or something to hold the camera still while taking the pictures, and maybe some better lighting. No offense intended or anything , sometimes a good work also requires a good presentation.

We do care. I don't think enough people build these great models, so it's always nice to see more (at least for me).

As for your VF-25, looking great so far. Excessive? maybe, but that's much better than rushing things and ending up with something you don't like. It pays off to be extra careful.

James,

You did a very good job on your first model. Yes we all care about such. I started building card models over 20 years ago. My models were very basic in construction and I really did not do much with them in learning how to improve them and my skills. I would tell my friends about my hobby and I would get odd looks. So for the longest time, I thought that I was the only one doing this, until I found both this site as well as Zealot about two years ago. A whole new world opened up for me in this hobby. I have received a tremendous amount of encouragement, support, and help. I have learned a lot from this site as well as Zealot. The people here are great individuals that will help you any way they can. all you have to do is ask. just remember one thing, the only stupid question, is the one that is not asked. If you do not ask, you will never know the answer.
So take the opportunity to explore and learn from the resources that are available to you and enjoy your self.

Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Nice models indeed, also another tip, I see you use Imageshack for storing your pictures.
If you place your links between the photo or Image appears directly on the forum and directly visible without clicking the link. This works for Photobucket, perhaps it will work for Imageshack as well.

@onions yeah....it's the Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) phone...I hacked it and the camera does act a bit wonky. I'll have to find something. I'll figure it out.

@Rhaven: I'm starting to get the feeling that people here are great. As a side note, I guess I must've signed up for a Zealot account a LONG time ago....can't post in any of the forums, and I cannot find a way to contact the admin(s) or moderator(s) think you could help???

@Jerry I will try that. Thanks!
