That much for printing? I upgraded my printer 18 months ago and bought a CISS for it, best hobby investment. Basically ink is free, I save so much.
Currently busy with 2 beta builds from Murph's Models (link is in my signature) then will build Airdave's beer truck spitfire and P-47. I also have Airdave's SAAF F-51 printed out. I like to build multiple models at the same time. |

Very nice. I usually only focus on one model at a time. Getting my own printer is one of the things planned for the future - have to balance all expenses for my other hobbies as well: PC gaming, Flight simming and paintballing, which of course plays second fiddle to family responsibilities!!!?
I have already printed out and will be building Bert Simon's anatomical head (papercraft anatomy head | bert simons ) for a second try - was about 80% finish the first time after a speedy build, but the face didn't line up as I wanted it, so it got a Hulk smash. I will be changing my assembly procedure, starting with the face first. |

Update 2
I have finished various of the bulk pieces that make up the center and base of the torso.
The pics attached show the parts separately and dry fitted together to get a rough idea of how/where they will fit together. I am finally happy with the fins that extend downwards from the big, round, stripey light part - I had numerous hassles previously with getting them to look similar to the ones in the instructions, but in the end have decided to trim and shape them my way to give them a more basic geometry. I also dry fitted the head and was initially worried about the limited forward and backward (nodding) movement, due to the location of the round disc at the base of the engine box, but concluded that this is good as it will prevent the head from flopping unnecessarily around in this axis. I have decided to not glue the bigger parts yet, but will instead try and finish all the head and fog light fittings with their wiring and then assemble them all at once. Watch this space. |

Update 3
Finally got the led's for the head- and fog lights sorted. I have not connected the wiring yet. Have also started sticking the bigger parts of the torso together, but only dry fitted the headlights, as I want to be 110% sure that I am happy with the fit before glueing.

FINALLY started working on this beastly project again!!!?
All the wiring for the lights are connected; - the head has been secured in place. The left hand side's lights have been glued; - the right side has been positioned but not glued yet. I decided to strengthen some of the points that may need to absorb the weight of the other arms. The following link is of the FB album: https://www.facebook.com/w.patterton...=3&uploaded=14 More to follow in the next few days!!!? Last edited by rickstef; 11-16-2018 at 11:00 AM. |
