Finished Mack at last ...

Printed trailer sheets 'as is' on A3 card and built it, but it could do with blowing up by another 25%. That would mean re-arranging parts on the sheets though, and could lead to problems getting the sides and roof to fit in one piece.

Even at this size, the trailer pieces are so large and floppy that it was necessary to line the box with corrugated cardboard to add some strength.

Yes I did notice that I'd put the sleeper box on back to front, but not until after it was firmly glued in place.

I thought that the articulation swivel plate was too low and would cause the trailer to foul the tyres ... So I padded it up higher ... but in studying the Pep diagram further, I now realise that the rear truck axles do not fit onto the chassis rails. The tyres should be glued to the chassis so that the axles are well below the rails. ie: There's room for some springs between them, but none are supplied.

I lost interest in this model half way through and it became a bit of a chore to finish it. I dunno why ... Was it just too big for my work space? ... Too many interruptions? ... Things not going together right? Having to refer back to the pdo too often? (The computer is in a different room).

As I say, I can't put a finger on it really, but I'm glad it's finished. Now I gotta figure out where to put the damn thing. It's 20" long. Hopefully a Grandson will express delight with it and be told he can take it home.

Taking a break from CARS for a bit ... I've been ordered to build a set of PowerPuff Girls before the girls go home at the weekend.

Keep on Snippin' ... Johnny.

Glad to see you're finished with this one Johnny. The tires would have been my undoing. I hope one of your grandsoons loves it and takes it with him. Powerpuff Girls huh? Weelll, I don't know. It should certainly give you a short break from CARS. What's next on the CARS assembly line when you return to them?

How's your recovery coming along, my friend? Are you able to spend more time modeling yet?

Looks good. Are you referring to the PowerPuff girls at Paperinside.com? They don't look too rough and should look good when you finish them

Next on the CARS list?? Could be McQueen or possibly Doc Hudson.

I've got a real soft spot for the Doc ... 'cos way back in the late '60s, I actually owned a Hudson Commodore, and boy would I love another one now. Mine had the neater rectangular grill, not the huge chrome monstrosity the later cars like Doc wore. Mind you, Doc is a Hot-Shot big mill Hornet, not a humble 6 pot Commodore cruiser. All the step-down models were absolutely gorgeous tanks, that just didn't need choppin' or lowering like the Mercurys. Factory built Lead-Sleds even. Oooh fond memories, especially of that huge back seat.

Yep, the PowerPuff Girls are the Paperinside ones VK. They LOOK simple enough, but the heads look to be similar in construction to the Hobikitkertas Angry Bird models, which gave me no end of 'How the hell d'yer get a finger in there?' problems.

Health wise, I'm just tickin' over at home fer a bit. I'm not really in pain, it's just damn uncomfortable, and I can't sit still for long. I'm sleeping OK now though, having invested in a pair of bendy beds. The Wife loves hers as it also has a couple of massage motors built in. They start converting our bathroom into a wet-room next week too. What the hell, I can't take it with me, so I'm spendin' some of me stash afore I go.

I've got a CRT scan on Sunday, followed by my first Oncology appointment on the following Friday. Don't know yet when the Chemotherapy will start, but I'm takin' a spare driver on Friday just in case. Not lookin' forward to this stage at all, but at least it's a 'Just in case we missed a little bit' treatment, not a full blown 'burn it out' job.

Keep on snippin' ... Johnny.

Wishing you all the best. Thank goodness you won't have to do the full-bore chemo

PowerPuffs done ... now I can get back to the CARS.

But according to a 16 year old art student who is fully into Anime and Cosplay, they should now look like this ...

She loved the models though.

Keep on snippin' ... Johnny

Just a wee token to bring this thread back on track ...

Brusino.com Lots of simple stuff on there.
Just a lil' one page one this. Even simpler than Dave's Koolwheelz.
Is this thread all mine, or is anyone else gonna join in?

Keep on snippin@ ... Johnny.

The Cars models that I have done were Brusino and from Spoonful. And they are long gone, given away to some kids who probably have them destroyed by now.

Still trying to finish up these trains for the nursing home, but already trying to figure out what I am doing next
