Papercraft Luigi Big (1m/40 inch tall)

Papercraft big Luigi - our favorite goomba stomping plumber. Huge papercraft model. You might even say ridiculously huge papercraft model. I've always wanted to make something absolutely bonkers papercraft model in the vein of that mad life size Link papercraft by Haywan.

It's a Super Smash Bros. original 3d-model. Originally folded by Ignatius. I tweeked the original model so that it would stand about 1 meter tall. I hanged the scale with Pepakura. My intent was to make it as birthday present for cousin's daughter so there was a deadline which was in July 2014. I started seriously working with it in January 2014 so the whole project took about six months worth of evenings. Started with head because I wanted to see how it would look so there was a severed Luigi head lying around for a while. From there I worked my way up from the boots to the overalls and then the arms and hands and before long it was finished. And just in time for the birthday.

The whole project was a joy although there was quite a lot work. Seriously lot of work! I watched about seven seasons Stargate SG-1 while working with this Luigi.

I made a video of this project. Found on Youtube:

Very nice. I tried to get my son into this hobby, luring him with some of the figures from his early video games, but to no luck. He sure likes getting the ones I build, though.

Do you have plans on doing more of these?
