New Macross SDF-1
over the holidays i stumbled on a new book from Japan on amazon and i thought i would take a chance and pick it up. boy i was not disappointed. not only did the book have great reference shots of the Macross in all her glory it also included a 1/2400 scale paper model kit. (yaaa hoo my first purchased kit ) the kit it self is 20 pages in A4 format and very well detailed. although the instructions are in Japanese there are enough pictures and diagrams to help sort the assembly order correctly. so far i have completed the bridge section and part of the main hull. there have been a few stumbling block along the way there are a few pieces i would have designed/unfolded very differently to make the build easier. So far i am having alot of fun with it and hope i do a decent job.

finally got back to this model. I decided to redo everything at 150% scale and start over. the increase in scale has made a huge difference in my ability to build this model. i am currently on page 6 of 20 in the construction and it is coming together quite well i think.

It's amazing the difference an increase in scale can make isn't it? Looking good!

Hello wulf. This is my version of the SDF-1 V2 by Thunderchild. He is 30 cm long and I'm not sure of the scale. Since I finished, I have thought of doing bigger but always another project arises. Good luck with your model.
Hola wulf. |

update time. i have started working on the engine sections. i have a bit more to do on it but i laid out the pieces in their approximate places so we could see just how large this ship will be when completed. the mat i am using is 16 inches wide and the ends over hang the ends by a considerable amount. i am planning to work on the section more this weekend and hopefully have one side completely assembled, then work will begin on the starboard side. i have made a few adjustments to the build and i will document those with the construction of the other half so to help others build this great model.
