The Paradigm City Project (Big O)

Big O has a LOT of things I like in an anime;

Film noir style, intriguing storyline, and yes, Giant Robots.

It was therefore inevitable that sooner or later I would get around to tackling the problem of a lack of Big O papercraft (and by 'lack' I mean none at all).:D

Some months back I came across a talented 3D designer named Pongoo who had done a Black Megadeus (The Big O) but for whatever reason had simply made the model available for patterning. Me being me I decided that if I was going to be happy with it I should do it myself. The result was/is a Big O papercraft approximately 50cm in height. I initially released it into the wild as my website was down but now that it is up again the model (PDO format) has been uploaded and is available from my Beta page.

Then why use the term "Project" in the thread title?
If you know anything about me at all you probably know I'm not content with one of anything. So, I sat down with my Big O DVDs at the computer and started getting screen caps.

Lots of screen caps.

And where is it all now?

Sorted into 20 folders.
3D completely finished on 11 models.
Patterning nearly done on 5.
All to scale with each other.:D

I'll keep you posted.

"O"-boy! Yup, keep going Webdude! With no ink, and at 47 pages, it may be a while before I get to it, but I will build Big O eventually! I'll be looking forward to the others as well, especially Big Fau, and the one with the propeller-driven engine arms (can't remember the name, been too long since I watched, will have to drag out my dvd's).

Truth be told I may cheat and scale one of them down. Behemoth, if built to scale not only poses new structural design challenges but would put quite a damper on my living space.....

Attached pic shows screen cap of Behemoth with 50cm tall Big O model for reference...

Big Duo. I ran into a problem with that one I've only seen once before in 6 years of design work. The model goes into to Pepakura Designer but is unreadable by the Viewer. The last time this happened was on the Wacky Racers. I'll be revisiting the 3D to look around but these are much more complex designs than those were.

Man it's "not" funny! She is S-E-R-I-O-U-S about space....:D

Actually I'll make it as big as I can...probably at 1 meter tall and I do not want to discuss how many sheets of card stock it will take.....(set aside two reams - not kidding)
