Yeah... before the mane it looked like he was a wearing a swimming cap

And I have no idea what kind of horse it is. I'll see if I can find out.

Edit:
Turns out my dad has a book on the Hussars... anyways, it says that they are "oriental breeds with Arab blood, typically known as 'Turks'."
They also introduced Arab blood into western horses (Frisian?), and it's sort of unclear, but it seems those mixes became the most used.
The model doesn't say anything about it, but it's most likely one of those two.

The horse is getting dressed up:

Then I added the saddle (and Chien's cube!)

That saddle was pretty iffy, but it ended up alright.
It's hard to see what's going on in this model.
There's just one real diagram of this thing, and several photos. Of course, in the photos, there's a giant soldier blocking the way... I ended up counting those golden circles in the trim and the horizontal lines. It looks like it's ok.

Well if you've looked at a saddled horse for more than 30 seconds, it's worth more than my opinion

That's outstanding work, even more so if you don't have decent instructions!

You're making superb progress on this build!

Cheers!

Thanks guys.

You know, I was looking at that last picture and thought my lens distorted the image. But it didn't! That horse is 25cm tall... I didn't even realize it was so big.

Horses are reptiles now? Crazy horse people... all this stuff confuses me.

So I've attached the various straps. The photos and the diagram are inconsistent, so I just tried to put things as they fit. Some of them don't make sense to me, but whatever. I didn't put the reins on yet.

And then I went on to make some of the accessories.
You have 2 pistols in holsters, 2 saddle bags, and the guy's shield.
